Designer Babies: Ethical Consideration

A baby whose genetic makeup has been artificially selected by genetic engineering combined with in vitro fertilization to ensure the presence or absence of particular genes or characteristics is their definition of designer babies. They raise questions about ethical and moral considerations. Example: are the technologies of genetic modification and selection safe enough to be used on humans. Another thing that may enable the selection of children’s characteristics is cloning. Cloning by somatic cell nuclear transfer uses a somatic cell from the person to be cloned. The thing with a clone is one would have different influences on them due to the environment that they would be in. They go in to talking about morals. They say it is hard to find definitions of disease suitable to serve as a moral guideline for genetic technologies. They then get into if parents should be able to enhance their children the way that they want to. They relate that to Adolf Hitler and what he did to the Germans, because he thought one appearance was better than the other.
